Default PC Programs?

Hi all, i hope things are going ok for everyone.

I just have an off topic question to ask.

I am setting up this pet sitting and i really need an easy program to use. I
dont know much about running a business but am hoping to learn ( i will do
some courses next year but if i dont jump on this now someone else will do
it)

I want to find something simple that i can keep records of clients on, easy
to call back their names if i need to, print invoices off and all that fun
stuff.

anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Cin

Get an accounting program. You may not like the cost upfront but it'll be
well worth it later on. Accountants will love you at tax time too. Stay
away from Quicken as its not designed to be used for business purposes. I'd
recommend, in this order, Quickbooks (www.intuit.com), MYOB (www.myob.com)
and Peachtree (www.peachtree.com).

If you're database savvy you can forget the accounting software and go with
Microsoft Access or FileMaker Pro. You'd have to know how to design &
implement database solutions for either of those to be effective.

The accounting software mentioned above all exports to Excel so you can
maneuver report data, save reports, etc. The first two, at least (not sure
about Peachtree), are able to import & export in a decent format so you can
import address book contacts from Outlook or your Address Book.

If you are only looking for super-basic functions right now, without the
ability to track invoices, pull reports, etc. then you could consider using
Excel. You can use it as a basic database & design an invoice layout in it.

I have Quickbooks pro. I love it, have used it for years--in fact I
haven't upgraded since 2000 and it's still working well and does what I
need. Yes, it's a bit of an investment but well worth it.
