Nessa said in rec.pets.dogs.behavior:

HOW often does your dog go poop???

The adult dogs, once per day. The young one, twice.

Double that when we're competing.

2-3 times a day, depending on how much exercise he gets. He's virtually
guaranteed to poop while on a walk. While on a LONG walk yesterday with my
husband, he pooped THREE times. Luckily Paul had added a new roll of pickup
bags to his fanny pack

Atty - 3 times usually (5:30 am , 4 pm after school, 10 pm), a gazillion
during acorn season (our record is 15) and always an additional time at
playday (noon) on Saturdays.

My dogs (present and past) - 2-3x / day when plumbing is
functioning normally.

I guess that sort of raises the question of how common it is
for them to have plumbing woes.

(My group averages 2x/day).

Khan - Twice daily, once on the morning walk, once on the evening walk or at
the dog park
Pan - Twice daily, once some time between breakfast and noon, and once
somewhere around evening walk-post dinner outing. Occasionally, 4 in the
morning.

Viva and Cala, 2 x day, occasionally 3. Zipper about the same, though
his nickname at shows has become Mr. No Poop, it usually takes him from
24 to 36 hours at a show site to decide he can go since there's SO much
other stuff for him to look at. Once he goes once, it's a lot easier the
next day.

When they were young, plumbing woes were very rare. In old age,
the Chihuahuas' digestive systems got more touchy, and my guess
is that it was as much due to secondary damage from failing
hearts as anything. And varying their diets trying to find foods
they should/could/would eat. Even then, diarrhea was occasional,
not frequent. Dylan didn't have this problem, and Oppie so far
has not.

Test for allergies
A simple test you can do at home is to lubricate the skin on the forearm in 3-4 days . If you are allergic to a product, it will in the area develop an eczema reaction. If you do not get this one has no allergies. This is called a user test. In case of uncertainty, dermatologists opportunity to carry out a patch test. This test is put on the back, and one reader for a response after 4 days.
