Default Jerks on rec.pets.dogs.behavior

Ten years ago I used to post to rec.pets.dogs groups. I learned a lot
from posting and reading helpful advice, sure, every once in a while
there was a troll that jumped on someone like myself who was at the
time inexperienced and looking for some help as a new pet owner. It
seems like a lot of jerks call this newsgroup home now.

To the jerks:

IF YOU TRULY CARE ABOUT DOGS you'd help the people asking for advice,
not belittle them, insult them, attack them, etc. and use a "holier
than thou" attitude. If you know more than most people because you are
a trainer, dog handler, breeder, kennel worker/owner, rescue
volunteer, etc. than you should be here to share your knowledge and
encourage people to do the right thing! Otherwise they'll turn away
from getting help and the dogs will end up suffering for your abuse of
the owner!

You know who you are. You can't truly call yourself a dog lover if you
aren't helping people who care for dogs with respectful responses that
teach them to correctly care for their dogs!

Sounds almost exactly what I've said on numerous occasions in the various
dog groups I've posted to.

Luckily, if you just ignore the jerks there's almost always good posts from
nice people as well.

people's reasons for coming here are as varied as the people
themselves. it's really silly to insist that people all be
motivated by what suits your own interests.

Otherwise they'll turn away from getting help and the dogs
will end up suffering for your abuse of the owner!

so where are the helpful, informative, dog-related posts from
you?

You know who you are. You can't truly call yourself a dog
lover if you aren't helping people who care for dogs with

how silly! of course you can. people can call themselves
whatever they choose. it's Allowed. besides, loving dogs has
nothing to do with how one relates to other people.
