Two useless dogs.

We came back from our walk yesterday, and I set about alternately prepping
our dinner and the dogs' dinner. In between, I happened to walk to the
bathroom, and spotted, standing square in the middle of our driveway, one
Hazmat truck, and about 6 firefighters. So, I go out onto the driveway, and
find an additional fire truck, parked square in front of our garage. There
are a bunch of people walking from Truck A to Truck B.

Spoke to my neighbor, and apparently, someone called in some sort of
hazardous material spill from an address that did not exist (We're 89 and
neighbors are 93, and the call came in about 91, which should be between the
two of us, but we'd know for sure if there were a house between the two of
us). Anyhoo, once they were there, they couldn't get out because of the
size of the truck and the way the driveway is configured. Apparently, they
had been there for a good 15 minutes by the time I discovered the mess, and
they were there an additional 15 or 20 before they figured out what to do.

Not a peep out of the two dogs the entire time. They were watching their
bowls, so if the firemen had tried to steal that, we would've been good.
Otherwise, I'd be SOL.

Anyone want some used dogs?

Totally useless! Unless you have bowl thieves. I'll pass!

Pan'n'Khan knew that they were there to help. Smart dogs.

Friday's a real barker when it comes to people coming up to his
house. If he's otherwise occupied (dinner isn't usually much of
a distraction) and someone knocks on the door without him seeing
them coming up the walk, all hell breaks loose.

It's as if he's embarrassed by missing the initial incursion and
makes up for it with extra volume.

You know, be thankful.

My two have been on constant, continuous bark alert at every moving, car,
bike, dog, walker, leaf since we've moved into the new house with the big
picture windows down at floor level. Very annoying. If I'm in the room and
ask them to cut it out, they do stop but its a big house and I'm not always
in the room.

They discerned that it wasn't a chainsaw wielding psychopath, so no problem!

I've been hearing that A LOT!

I've always assumed that these two would at least warn me if some chainsaw
wielding psychopath showed up at my doorstep. Apparently, the psycho better
not show up during breakfast or dinner. I'd be toast.

Riiiight! They've paid you off, haven't they?

See, at least he has the good sense to recognize that he failed at his
duties and to be embarassed. I took Pan outside to show her the
firepeople/trucks, and all she wanted to do was go back inside (in case it
was a dirty rotten trick and Khan had started on dinner without her).

I've discovered Peanut a couple of times sitting in the windowsill and
barking at people on the roof of the building across the street. I do
*not* know what that's about. (Peanut, I mean...the people he was
barking at were fixing things.)
