Default GSD from rescue or breeder?

Hi there, we are looking into having a second dog, and would like a German
Shepherd. We have a small JRT x and two children aged 7 and 3, I would
prefer my youngest to be at school before I get another one as I would want
the time etc to devote. We have looked into getting a puppy from a breeder,
but it would be nice to adopt a dog from a rescue, although we would prefer
a puppy. How often do gsd puppies come up in rescues? And would we be
risking having a dog with potential problems having not seen the parents
etc. As I say, we really are not in a hurry, but we are trying to collect as
much information as possible. We live in the South West, UK.

Many thanks
Shantel

(no need for you to double post.)
There are TONS of Shepherds and Shepherd mixes out there BEGGING for
adoption. I strongly encourage you to look into this. A good rescue will
test the animal for getting along with other dogs, cats, and sometimes
children. Go for it!

German Shepherds and Labs are two of the most overbred breeds and tons of
them are in shelters all the time. Check German Shepherd Rescue, or keep an
eye on your local rescues and shelters. You'll be shocked at how many
beautiful dogs (GSD'S) are in shelters and rescues. jav
