Name prefix question
Lucy won multiple High in Trial awards (and, I think, one reserve, but
I'd have to check on that) when I was in 4-H with her. Our 4-H group called it "Overall Grand Champion," but it was HIT. Should I include that in her name when I write it out in full? ie: HIT Lucy Anna Skye, MB-CD, CGC. Since they weren't sanctioned trials (AKC/UKC/ASCA/AMBOR/MBDCA/etc) do they count? They meant something to me because we worked hard for them, so I kind of feel the letters should be there. Any input? -Amanda Lucy Anna Skye, MB-CD, CGC BIMBS CH Cat's Cradle's Beaufort, CGC http://www.uberpest.com |

In spite of the fact that the abbreviations BIS (all-breed Best in Show) and BISS (Best in Specialty Show) are often prepended to a dog's name when a dog has won those awards, it's not customary to do the same with High In Trial - maybe it should be, but it's not. In fact, I've never seen it done. Furthermore, using the abbreviation HIT could be confusing because sometimes people use that to indicate that the dog has been herding instinct tested. So of you want to make some reference to Lucy's High In Trials, I'd suggest you write it out, i.e. "Lucy Anna Skye, MB-CD, CGC, multiple High In Trial winner". HTH, Dianne |
