Default 4 yr old Pitbull mix in Albuquerque, NM looking for a home

Otis, My pit bull mix is such a love. However, Otis is becoming
aggressive toward my other dogs. I have talked with a vet and many
other dog enthusiast and they have told me that Otis needs to be
placed in a different home with someone that can work with him more
than I can. We ( My mom and I) found him in a park when he was just 1
yrs old, and has grown up with my two female dogs and has gotten along
with them very well. But, Otis has started to become aggressive toward
my two dogs and it has gotten out of hand. Otis is a lover and loves
to cuddle with people. I'm trying to find sanctuary that will work
with him or someone that can give him a lot of attention and time to
work with him. Being a student and working I don't have the desired
time that is needed to work with him sadly. I love Otis so MUCH! But I
cannot risk him attacking my two female dogs that are much smaller
than he is. He is a wonderful people dog but has developed tendencies
to not be good around other dogs. If anyone has any help, knows of
animal sanctuary's or Pit bull rescues in New Mexico, Texas, or even
Arizona please let me know! Thank you for your time and your response
to my post it is much appreciated!

Dog-dog aggression is not unusual in pit bulls, and it's likely that
giving him more attention and/or working with him isn't going to
change that. Pitties are known for being great people dogs but often
not so good with other dogs. A pit bull rescue would be a good idea
because they would have experience with the breed and knowledge about
the type of home Otis needs, as well as potential homes that are
specifically interested in that breed. You can google for pit bull
rescues in your area.

You can also find pit bull rescues listed under "shelters", by state, on
www.petfinder.com There is an all-animals sanctuary in Utah.... I
think it's Best Friends, but I don't know about AZ, NM or TX. Many
sanctuaries and no-kill rescues go belly-up because they take in too
many animals before they have really sound financial bases with reliable
income, so one that is there today can be gone tomorrow. ASK questions
before you turn over the dog.

Because of Pit Bull's deserved reputation for dog agression and
relatively undeserved reputation for human aggression placement of such
dogs is difficult in the best of places, and Albuquerque's lax obediance
of spay and neuter laws makes it not one of the best places. The city
shelters are overwhelmed. There used to be a sanctuary south of Santa
Fe, but I believe they have decided to focus mostly on horses.
Unfortunately the rescues I knew best in Albuquerque when I was more
active, seem to have burnt out. Second Chance Animal Rescue in Rio
Rancho is still around and they read well on the internet. Same with
PACA/AAR. I would check with them to see if they have any suggestions.
