Default WTB Silver Lab

I'd like to buy a silver lab puppy. I'd like one under 5 months old.

A) This is a rescue group, not a place to find or advertise dogs for
sale.

B) There is no such thing as a silver lab.

A) Oops, OK, I worded it wrong, if there is a male SILVER LAB for rescue
then please let me know.

B) There is such a breed as a SILVER LAB and they are regconized by the
American Kennel Club.

It is suggested that some years ago, somewhere between 1950-1960, a
Weinaraner & a lab were crossed and POOF the SILVER LAB was born! This
site here explains it better than I-www.labbies.com/silver.htm. Here's
just one web site that breeds them; www.silverlabs.com/index.htm

Labrador Retrievers are registered by the AKC as yellow (can be cream,
white, reddish), chocolate, or brown. The AKC registers what you
describe as silver labs under chocolate.

If that were true, the result would be a Weimaraner/Lab cross, and
Weimaraner/Lab crosses are not registerable under AKC.

Thanks for the link. If you'd read that website, you'd see that there
is no such breed as a SILVER LAB. The AKC registers as chocolate what
you (and that website) describe as silver. The above website also
states that what they describe as silver labs are purebred Labrador
retrievers, as proven by DNA testing. Apparently your story about the
Weimaraner/Lab cross has been proven false.

If you want a Labrador retriever from a rescue group, there are
thousands of dogs available from thousands of groups. You're unlikely
to find a "silver" one.

From: http://www.akc.org/breeds/labrador_retriever/index.cfm
"Color
The Labrador Retriever coat colors are black, yellow and chocolate. Any
other color or a combination of colors is a disqualification."

"POOF"! LOL

If you're still serious, you'd better do your homework. If you merely
wanted give us a laugh, thanks; because this certainly was funny.
Because I'm still learning, and so gullible, I had to go double check!

also called a "dilute chocolate", IIRC, and is considered a serious fault in
the AKC.

I suspected it might be a fault. It just figures that some people
would breed for it, doesn't it?

Point taken. But I still want a gray/silver/chocolate (whatever the
label) colored little boy.
