Default Achilles Tendon repair?

Hey, everybody,

Has anyone had experience with surgical repair of an Achilles Tendon?
My young field trial prospect has either partially or entirely severed
his Achilles Tendon (we're waiting for the surgeon to call back to
schedule the surgery). I'm going to a great surgeon, but would be
very grateful for any tips on aftercare/rehab that anyone would be
willing to share.

My guy is a 40 lb fieldbred English Springer Spaniel who turned a year
old the end of June. He's a super pup, and not overly energetic, so
at least that will be helpful! He had a freak accident with metal
siding.

I'd also be interested in experience with regards to mobility regained
after all of the rehab is over. I don't know if I'm looking at a dog
who now won't be able to do any hunting or field trialing, or if I can
expect to be able to do some things with him. Or, if he's looking at
life as a much loved pet whose only job would be to hang out. Again,
questions I'll ask the surgeon, but would like to start preparing
myself now if I'm looking at some very disappointing news. Of course,
I'm very grateful that he will eventually be ok--any activities he can
do on top of that will be bonus.

Thanks for any experience!

Huh..... I had mine repaired with a scope procedures.... 4 tiny
