Default Recall LabDiet/Mazuri

Just in case anyone has a maned wolf in their house !! (or a primate,
guinea pig or small bird)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 3, 2012 – PMI Nutrition International has
initiated a voluntary recall of four varieties of the LabDiet® and
Mazuri® feed products listed below, due to the potential for an elevated
vitamin D level in these products. Elevated vitamin D levels can be
harmful to animals if fed for extended periods.

While this is fish food, it appears that the issue is probably some kind
of vitamin mix commonly bought by these companies. Now Purina (fish
food) has an issue with excess Vit D:
Expanded Voluntary Recall of Land O’Lakes Purina Feed Products Due to
Potential Elevated Vitamin D Level –

So who knows if this issue will migrate to 4 legged pet foods.
Symptoms of excess Vit D a anorexia, weight loss, nausea, fatigue,
soft tissue calcification, hypercalcemia, diarrhea, dehydration.

If your pet is sick with any of these symptoms don't forget to consider
the food a source of the illness. Forewarned is forearmed.

..........Now there's a Purina poultry feed with excess Vit D, so this
indeed is a creeping recall.

Please keep in mind the signs of excess Vit D and keep checking this

Seems to me that there has been at least one other type of feed recalled
for the same problem in the past few months.....
