Default Tail docking my Brit pup a 2nd time

Our Brittany pup had it's tail docked shortly after being born. Now he's 6
months old and getting pretty big. His tail is about 5" long right now. By
comparison, our 12 year old Brit has about a 3" tail. The pups tail seems
too long.

I'm just wondering if I can have the tail docked again and what kind of
problems that might cause...?

At 6 months, tail docking is surgery that requires anesthesia.
Don't do it.

You can have it docked again but it will then be considered an amputation
requiring anesthesia and aftercare. The dog won't notice the extra missing
inches but it will notice prolonged pain/discomfort where it didn't as an
infant. Unless you plan to show this dog in conformation, where the length
of the tail would be important, I don't understand why an extra few inches
would bother anyone. It may not be ideal but certainly not a reason for
willy-nilly cosmetic surgery don't you think?

You are kidding us, right?

Docking is very cruel - please leave it alone now
