My retriever seems to have caught a claw in something, and
it bleeds a little when he comes back from a walk. Knowing

does anyone have any hints on ways to keep this clean and
dry and help it to heal?

You can stop the bleeding by packing some flour or cornstarch around the
nail. We put flour in a small plastic bag & put the dog's foot in the
bag. It doesn't take long to stop the blood.
