Cool Weimaraner seperation anxiety

Hi,

We own a 2 year old male weimaraner named Tryden. We've had him since his 9 weeks old but from the very first night we took him home he showed signs of anxieties. We tried to follow the breeders instructions in crate training him, but our weim would just not get used to his crate. We could leave him as little as half hour the entire crate would be covered in droll, we tried everything peanut butter in his Kong, dog bones u name it, we tried. When Tryden got older (14 months) we started leaving him free to roam the house, of course we dog proof the house, closed all the doors and left nothing lying around. Things started off good, no mess or anything, then as the weeks when on he started his destructive behavior, started with small stuff (ex.moving things around without breaking the objects, ripping paper apart and spilling his food and water dish). Now at 22 months old he is at his worst (chewing entrance carpet, shoes, TV remotes, jumping up on counter to look out the window, etc.) We even child proof our entrance closet so he wouldn't chew our things anymore but he even tore thru the childproof latch. Now, we emptied our closet. We've also come across this all natural remedy for dogs with anxieties called Rescue remedy (Natural stress relief) by Bach. Even that seems to have no effect on his behavior. Tryden is only left home alone no more than 4 hours at a time, which doesn't happen often. If he sees us leave in the vehicles, it seems to trigger his anxiety so much more than if we just run over to the neighbors for the same amount of time gone
(ex. We leave in the vehicle for 5 min, we end up with a mess. If we go visit the neighbors for 30 min or an hour we come back without out a mess). We take him for runs every night and give him plenty of attention. He has a very loving home and is a very well behaved dog when we are home, but we just need help with his separation anxiety. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
