"irish" jack russells vs. parson russells
Is there a difference in temperament between these two? Is there any
difference at all? I'm reading that the Irish or short legged jack russells are not bred to hunt, are less likely to dig and are better with kids or as family dogs? Is this true? Does anyone have any information about this? I need a good family pet that isn't too big. We had a beloved beagle, who died, but our experience was that he howled and wanted to roam too much and we're looking for another dog that meets our various "criteria". Thanks in advance. Cheryl |

I've seen those claims made for Irish Jacks - by people charging highly inflated prices for poor quality, unregistered, bred for sale puppies from dubious sources. There should be no difference in temperament between long legged & short legged jacks and they all dig & they are all challenging pets. IME the short legged ones can be keener ratters but really the only difference between them in a family environment is how high they can climb to steal food ) Sue |
