Nova Scotiia Duck Tolling Retriever
This is a dog I've not heard alot about. Now my daughter is interested in
finding one. Are there alot of breeders out there and can any one tell me what the breed is like? There are a few breeders out there, there will (unfortunately) soon be more. They are the BC of the sporting group--very high drive, need lots & lots to do. If you aren't an experienced dog owner (i.e. your life revolves around your dogs to a decent extent) you will not be happy with a Toller. ~Emily --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.506 / Virus Database: 303 - Release Date: 8/1/2003 |

I know quite a few Tollers as well as one breeder. In a nutshell, well-bred Tollers are not a good choice for an inexperienced owner or an owner who's not committed to dealing with an active and highly intelligent dog. There are not a lot of them by any means, and from what I can tell (mainly from a trainer friend in Canada) they are inconsistent. Trainers I've talked to consider them relatively low in desire to retrieve. Amy Dahl |

Bonnie this website is maintained by a friend of mine: http://www.toller.org/. it has links to clubs, faqs, and a mailing list, as well as general info on tollers. be warned, they're a very active breed that can become destructive when not given enough to do. -kelly |
