Default Over heating to quick?

What would cause a dog to get overheated to quick?
I have a rat terrier that looks like his heart is beating out of his
chest somtimes and gets to hot to quick. Can somone help me with some
suggestions? Please visit my MB with help I may never find this MB for
your suggestions..

Oh, please. You've posted here before, and it's always been
to advertise your freakin' rat terriers (BTW, visited your
"board," hated it). I'd say that there's a non-zero chance
that this is another ploy to get people to visit your "board."

That said, different dogs have different ability to tolerate
heat. Activity can lead to overheating, and I'd let the dog
be as idle as it wants to be. Also provide plenty of
water. If you're concerned about it, ask a vet. I'm not
sure why you're pointing to elevated heart rate as the first
symptom, BTW - the first symptom of overheating is excessive
panting, often to the point of sucking air, along with
ataxia.
