Default Mini Schnauzer Size

All,
I have an 18 month old Mini Schnauzer...at least that is what I was told
when I purchased him at 2 months of age. Does anyone know the weights for
Schnauzers? My "mini" now weighs 26.5 lbs. I was told that he would be in
the 15 lb. range when grown. I have books on Schnauzers and cannot seem to
get a handle on the correct size.
TIA

Here's what the American Miniature Schnauzer Club says is the breed standard:

Thank you very much. It looks like my pup is non-standard by color and
weight. I love him anyway, but I am somewhat dissapointed that he is not
quite what I thought I was purchasing.

How tall is he at the withers? If you can't measure him there,
the top of the shoulder blades is a reasonable approximation.

What colour is he? Can you post a picture somewhere?

I'm glad yoy love him. There are never any guarantees with a puppy that
you will get what you expected. That large a size difference is one of
the fore unusual ways of not meeting expectations, but not the most
difficult form. Personality problems are far harder. FWIW my new
neighbors have a small standard schnauser, ~30 lbs, that is a dear. I
prefer her to he miniatures I have known.

done your research into your breed, you should get exactly what you paid

Ah crap, insertion point in wrong spot... sorry about that. For clarity,
here's what it should have looked like:

I give up. I'm going to bed. I'm apparently too stupid to write anything

No, there's still variability and surprises. You should get
a guarantee that the breeder will take the dog back, and
there should be fewer surprises, but no surprises in a
litter would be a surprise.

Really? My brother-in-law has gotten three German Shepherds from very
reputable breeders. They originally planned to breed shepherds. All
three were good with people and very handsome, but the first they got
had hip displasia, the second significant eye problems, and the third is
same sex aggressive. Fortunately they had the good sense to breed none
of them. My sister, on the other hand, has been pleasantly surprised
that her English Bulldogs have been living twelve to fourteen years. She
has been less pleased that her youngest has developed separation anxiety
in mid-life. The destruction to part of her house has been hard to deal
with.
