Default Wire Coat Problems

My Wire Haired Fox Terrier is about 2 years old and was regularly
handstripped until quite recently when, after a period of illness, the
wire coat seems to have completely disappeared. When the groomer went
to strip her all that remained was a bald patch. We left it for a few
months in the hope it would come right but it hasn't. Does anyone have
any ideas for food supplements etc that might help? She's prone to
itchy skin and that has definitely got worse since we've been
clippering her, so we'd like to get back to stripping.
