bull terriers
"SexyMexy" wrote in message om... I am looking for a breeder of english bull terriers in or around the dallas, Tx. area. I'm just looking for a pet quality dog, no champion bloodlines necessary. Please e-mai any info if you would. Thanx, Aaron Aaron, You are on the hunt for a favourite breed of mine. Lucky you!! Start by looking here... http://www.btca.com/ Then try to find some mailing lists and BT forums to join on the net. Look under just "Bull Terrier/s" and leave out the "English" when doing your searches. Joining such lists can link you up with many fanciers and breeders who maybe can point you in the direction of someone responsible, with litters due. If you don't necessarily wish for a pup, you might try searches for BT rescues. As a thought to your original post, please do be careful in your choice of a breeder. A "pet quality" dog should have just as much thought gone into it's background as any showdog and that means you really should be able to see that the breeder "has" done all the things before breeding to make sure your puppy really is a quality dog. That often means that they have indeed shown their breeding stock. A pedigree full of unknown dogs, mostly means your puppy will be a surprise as to just what he turns out to be. On the other hand, a pup with a pedigree containing many well known champions of record, will give you a pup with a background of being well bred. Most show litters have pet quality puppies available, and once you find a responsible breeder, they will no doubt be able to fix you up with a perfect dog to meet your requirements. Never settle for a pup from a breeder who says "I just breed pets". That almost always means they breed for money and really don't know much about the breed, and certainly don't care if their breeding stock is even of breeding quality and are never around to help you after the $$$ have changed hands. Whether or not you wish for a show dog, "always" purchase from someone who has a known history in the breed, preferably shows their stock before breeding, can answer all your questions with knowledge and authority. You should also start looking in your local newspaper and find upcoming dog shows in your area. Attend a few and arrive early so you can find out when and where the BT's will be shown. This way you have a chance to meet breeders and their dogs first hand. Good luck in your search and keep us posted. Lizzie |
