Default 'Tis a puzzlement

This isn't very informative,
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=inde...2&t=1084793160
but poses a question. With Labs the most popular breed (and Goldens
must not be far behind) among pet owners, why do representatives of
sporting breeds rank near the bottom in conformation wins?
You'd think there would be public pressure on the judges.
