Default A visit from Gecko & Sebastian

Hi,
These past two weeks, we've had two wee visitors: Gecko, a mixed breed
(mini- Dachshund x Poodle cross is the best guess so far) and Sebastian, a
Papillion. Three year old Sebastian is something like 8 lbs but has 100 lbs
of attitude and Lucy is deeply respectful of him. The second day, Sebastian
walked up to a dozing Lucy, sniffed her over and then anointed her. I guess
it's official then, Lucy is his bitch. Pablo doesn't care either way but he
is pleased that Sebastian is keeping Lucy in check for him. Gecko is 11 and
just a happy sweet old guy.

When S & G came to stay, I put their crates in the kitchen and moved Lucy's
crate in our bedroom. The first evening when I was fixing dog dinner, a
hungry Lucy ran to Gecko's crate and squeezed herself inside it. Gecko's
crate is large for a toy dog but still, I was surprised that Lucy could get
into it. Of course I didn't have my camera on hand so yesterday I recreated
the event and asked Lucy to get into Gecko's crate. Lucy doesn't know the
stay command so I had to shut the door to take the photo. In the photo, her
shoulders are pressed against the top of the crate.

BTW, I've been playing with my new camera, a Panasonic Lumix FZ-10. It has a
Leica lens and goes to 12X optical zoom. This is a great camera. Sebastian
is a ham and loves to be photographed but Gecko gets inhibited. He normally
goes around with this happy smile but as soon as I point a camera at him, he
gets somber. I did manage to get two shots of Gecko smiling by dancing
around with his food dish in one hand and my camera in the other all the
while singing the "happy suppertime" song.
