Default Today I put my dog to sleep

I am writing to help answer the dreaded question: "when is the right
time to put my dog to sleep? " Even though it is perhaps the most
personal question you ask to any dog owner, I have come to peace with
this yesterday. In about an hour I go to the vet with "Grubs" my 15
year-old golden retriver. If a dog is in pain I say that it is time.
Also, if a dog cannot do at least 3 things that it enjoyed doing when
able to beside eat and sleep, I also think it may be time. The
quality of your dog's life is paramount to how terrible you will feel
after he/she is gone. Yes, I am crying now DREADING this moment to
soon come. In my heart I know that eating and sleeping alone are not
enough for old faithful. I will remember the times chasing squirrels
and birds, swimming and playing. Able to see and hear. I will miss
you Grubs. It's your qualtiy of life that matters most this morning.
I'll see you in heaven when I am ready.

Hi Peter,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your buddy. Our rescue web site has
an essay that I find to be very comforting. Go to www.shepherdrescue.org
then go to the Rainbow Bridge section. After you get through all of the RBB
stuff, the essay is called Living Love.

Peace be with you and Grubs.

Yours in dogs and rescue,

Lea Spickler

I am sorrry for your loss,Peter. It takes a courageous heart such as
yours to give your dear friend relief and rest. I know Grubs will
be missed, painfully, but be at peace knowing you gave Grubs the
most difficult of all gifts to give. Bless you with peace,
Gen

I only hope that when the time comes for me, I could have someone like
you making the decision.

Grubs is not entirely gone - he'll feel your love when you think of him.
Time will make the passing easier on you but you'll never forget him and
that's what will keep him close to you.
