changes in canidae?
Hi Beth........I adopted a 5 year old female Bernese Mountain Dog about 2
months ago. (best dog we ever owned :-})I put her on Canidae and have noticed she has dry flaky skin and itches. I am new to this brand of feed and thought I would put some oil in her diet to compensate for it. She is also a fussy eater for me and I tried samples of 3 different brands of dog food when I first got her. She seemed to like this Canidae the best but only eats 2 cups a day at the best of times. I top dress with a teaspoon of Cottage Cheese to keep her interest up. She weights 95 pounds and while I think the lighter these bigger breeds are, the better it is for her I would like to see 5-10 pounds more on her! I have been thinking to try another brand since for the 2 months I have had her on it she has had minimal interest in the feed. Back to lurking now ...........Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: Newsgroups: rec.pets.dogs.health Sent: Friday, December 16, 2005 1:02 PM Subject: changes in canidae? sighthounds & siberians wrote: On 16 Dec 2005 06:49:13 -0800, " wrote: Is there no possibility that the dry skin and scratching are due to something other than their food, such as humidity level in the house? I wouldn't say we've noticed differences; the couple of people who said their dogs didn't want to eat it are the type who impulsively change foods. One of the dogs in question was sick at the time, and I encouraged his owner to at least get him diagnosed and work through that before she changed foods, but she likes to make changes. I would like to know what the company tells you, though, if you get a hold of them. They're usually pretty responsive by email if you can't get through by phone. Mustang Sally I had thought about the heat finally being on and all of that but they didn't have the problem last year. I still can't get through on the phone. I'll have to send an email from home I suppose. Beth |
