Default 9 year old German Shepard with torn back knee ligament and Arthritis in spine

Hi I need advice on whether it is worth putting our dog through the trauma
of a ligament replacement operation when the Vet tells us that there is very
little they can do for the arthritic lesions on her spine which is also
giving her problems with her back legs. She is otherwise very healthy and
the X-rays show no other problems with her hips etc.

Kind regards
Fred

Hello Fred,

My Lab was 10 at the time and the situation sounds similar. My Lab had
a tear and some arthritis. I took him in for the operation and after
two months of very modest walks, he has regained his old form. It has
been a year now and he walks pretty well. I give him two capsules of
glucosamine each day (been doing that for several years...same stuff I
use. Operation was not inexpensive, though and you could buy at least
two pure breds for the price.
