Default Dog food advice

I was a Walmart recently and noticed that the formula for Maxximum dog food has changed quite a bit. The bag says no preservative, no by-products, no artifical flavors, and not chelated minerals. It is also corn and wheat free. Ingredients: Lamb, chicken meal, ground whole grain sorghum, brewers rice, ground barley, chicken fat (with tocopherols), dried beet pulp, carrots, natural flavor, ground flaxseed, peas, potassium chloride, dried egg product, brewers dried yeast, salt, blueberry pomace, etc.: minderals and vitamins.

So my question is could this food not really be that bad. I know there are a few questionable not neccessarily bad things such as salt, beet pulp, egg porduct, sorghum, and brewers rice, but this food seems to be a lot better than anything else they sell at Wal-Mart. I also read study that found there was no phenobarbatal(sp) found in this dog food which is good new because it means there is no euthanized animals.

So baisis aside from being produced by Wal-Mart, is this food worth getting? I know compared to many of the premuim brands not found at Wal-Mart or pet stores it is still not the best but it seems a lot better than many commercial dog foods.
