Salt content of supermarket meats: Pet owners retreat to kitchens

Unless you can get minimally processed meat, you may be giving
your pet more salt than you think when you home-cook your pet's
food.

Even though your meat may be labeled "100% natural," read the
find print on the package. You will find that many meats
packaged by large meat processors such as Tyson have saline or
broth added to the meat. In other words, the meat has additional
salt content.

If your pet is on a low-sodium diet, you're compromising the diet
by using this meat. (Same goes for you or your family.)

You're also paying a lot for several ounces of salt water - I've
seen up to 15% by weight added.

Please don't take my word for it - read the labels on the meats
in your supermarket.

AFAICT, organic meats don't contain this added salt.
