Best way to hit your dog?
OK, first off, hitting your dog is NOT the answer. I work at a vet
clinic and we have clients that come in with the most uncontrollable dogs sometimes. But you know what? If you have to resort to hitting your pet, it is YOU who needs the training. You obviously do not know how to control your dog. This is common with owners that own large dogs. They continuously let their dog to pull them on the leash, take the lead on walks, etc. What is the worst, is when I am in a room with an aggressive dog and it is trying to bite me with the muzzle on, the O tries to calm it by saying, "It's OK! Don't worry! blah, blah, blah!". So to train your dog, abuse is not the answer, you will make them aggressive and fearful of people. I had 2 short haired dachshunds when I was little and my stepfather at the time would kick them in the ribs and smack them across the face, and you know what? Eventually, they started to bite his hand if it came near their faces. People could not pet them anymore because they became so "Fear-Aggressive". So look for a trainer to help you out. There are many methods to train your pet. For example, when your dog tries to take the lead when you go for walks, you need to be stern with him/her. Take the collar and move it from the back of the neck to the front of the neck (right under their chin), whenever they start to walk ahead of you, yank up on the leash hard and let them know who's boss. They will begin to listen to you. If this method does not work, don't be afraid to use an electric collar. Most owners are afraid to use these because they think it hurts their animal, well, it doesn't. It's just like receiving a static shock when someone touches you. So there is my opinion on striking your dog. I hope you don't resort to hitting your animal, it only makes things worse, TRUST ME! |
