SHOW QUALITY DACHSHUNDS:
SHOW QUALITY DACHSHUNDS:
The Dachshund had a lively, upbeat pesonality--spunky, curious and friendly. These traits remain from the Dachshund's original job: "Dachshund" means "badger dog" in German, and he was created to hunt down badgers. The Dachshund is a member of the Hound Group and was first recognized by the AKC in 1885. http://classifieds.yahoo.com/display...-7796752&srid= Min. Anyone looking for well bred dachshunds would do well to learn what questions to ask the breeder, before contacting the breeder. There are plenty of breeders who are more interested in their ego, and your money, than in the health and welfare of the dogs. Look for dogs of that breeders breeding in the OFA database. Does that breeder test for PRA? for structural problems? for thyroid problems? Is that breeder contributing to the knowledge pool by submitting test results to OFA? Is the breeder open enough about both the good AND the bad to authorize OFA to publish the results without regard to whether the dog tests clear? If you see a non-passing dog in the database it does NOT mean the breeder has unhealthy dogs. It means the breeder is being open and honest with regard to that dog. If you see NO dogs in the database then that is a very bad sign as it means the breeder wither lacks the knowledge or the concern to both test and to share that information. Learning how to properly search the database is a very worthwhile investment. Do you want a healthy dog? Then look for a breeder who uses knowledge and caring to best improve the chances of a healthy dog. Don't be impressed by a breeder's claims of "show quality" or "show prospect." When applied to the puppies is merely means (or should mean) that there are no obvious disqualifying faults. It does not mean the puppy is healthy, nor does it mean the parents are healthy. In selecting that puppy it is very important to know what that "Champion" really means, and what it does not mean, with regard to the health and temperament of the "Champion" and its get. http://dog-play.com/akc.html For more on looking for a caring responsible breeder see http://dog-play.com/ethics.html http://dog-play.com/where.html http://dog-play.com/checklist.html -- Diane Blackman http://dog-play.com/ http://dogplay.com/Shop/ |

I just looked at your web page. I've never heard so much "socialist" hog wash! The government should regulate dogs? No. They should not. No where do I say they should. The AKC can't do a good enough job for you so you want the government to solve all your problems? No I want people to take responsiblity for their choices. Get for real. I'm as real as you get. I even sign with my real name. Oh, and there are SERIOUS copyright problems with all the plagiarism. I've contacted the people you are ripping off. Maybe you'll be hearing from their lawyers? Oh cool. I'll be thrilled to see who you have found that is plagerizing me. Are you a memeber of PETA? Perfectly Exquisite Tween Attempt? Nah, I'm not good at tweening although your post begs for it. I believe in teaching people about their choices. It is up to their personal ethics what to do with those choices. I believe in pet animals. I believe in animals for food. I believe in appropriate use of animals in research. Are you a party to the big slander suit pending against them? You want to be? Keep up the misinformation! Hah hah very funny. -- Diane Blackman http://dog-play.com/ http://dogplay.com/Shop/ |
