Still Hot as Hades
Subject: Still Hot as Hades
From: "Robin Nuttall" Date: 7/20/03 4:36 PM Pacific Daylight Time Where are you? Europe/England? I know there's record heat over there. Sacto valley, California. We've now had about 10 days of triple digits. Normally we would get the old 'delta breeze' to cool things off in the afternoons, but that air outside is not moving AT ALL. It's funny, I do not remember this heat as I was growing up here. Must be the old global heating deal. Deb Shi the Survivor Georgie the Kid-Snarker |

I was telling my husband that where I grew up in NJ, none of the houses had central air and window units were a luxury item. We just used fans stuck in the windows in the summer and its gets as hot up there as it does in Charleston, it just doesn't last as long (our temps w/heat index have been in the 100-105 range for the last several weeks). I don't ever remember it being hot as a kid but you can bet I'd die in a house w/o AC now. I don't venture out much from June to mid-September down here because the humidity is too high. Walking outside is like walking into an oven. I am sincerely hoping that my mom had my grandmother's house fitted with central air otherwise I'll be in for a miserable 5 days. -- Tara |
