Default Toby Report

We took Toby in today for a checkup. He's off the clinical trial, but
we figured an X-ray every month was probably a good idea, just to see
how he's doing.

However, the doctor talked us out of it by pointing out that we don't
expect the tumor to have shrunk, and seeing its size isn't going to tell
us anything about his quality of life that we can't find out some other
way. Toby's appetite is excellent and he is maintaining his weight (he
weighs the same this month as he did last month--yay!), and he still has
lots of energy to annoy Fidget with, so the vet's conclusion is that
Toby is not suffering any major discomfort. He's not coughing at all
and hasn't for a month. The vet also said that a primary tumor like
this usually doesn't spread.

We're going to keep him on the methylprednisolone and Baytril, since the
combination seems to be keeping him feeling pretty chipper.

He also said that he listened to Toby's lungs, and that if he didn't
know there was a huge tumor in there he wouldn't have suspected it just
from listening...no fluid buildup, just a little wheezing now and then.
Knowing that Toby is still doing comparatively well is the best birthday
present I could have imagined!

It's neat to find good news when I finally get a chance to log on. Thanks
Kevin, and scritches to Toby and Fidget :-)
