Ridgeback .... ridgenose?
"Veripwolf" wrote in message ... My 2 crossbreed girls have a 'ridgeback effect' on their noses. They are possibly a mix of GSD, lab, maybe border collie too. I've checked my sister's dogs' noses (white GSD, border collie) and even checked the neighbours' dog (labrador) but they all have the usual hair running in one direction. Does anyone have any ideas about this physical trait .... are there particular breeds with this ridgenose effect? Here's one: http://cmell.tripod.com/test.htm - not a purebred, but I have seen this feature on some show dogs too. Maybe 1 in several thousands. Seems nobody bred for it (yet?) -- Ivana Marinkovic |"After the first four years Zagreb, Croatia | the dirt does not get any worse." Http://www.iridis.com/ivanam | --Quentin Crisp |

Oh, that's just a "zipper." It's in all sorts of dogs, purebred and otherwise. There were two zippers in my Flat-Coated Retriever's litter, and my hunting trainer's newest prospect has a very, very cute little one. Personally, I don't care for them, but it's entirely cosmetic. I don't know if any breed standard says anything about them one way or the other Kate |
