Default OT - do paint roller edgers work?

Hi there. We're doing a bunch of work on our house in the next few months -
pulling up our carpets and refinishing the oak floors underneath. Before
doing that, though, I HAVE to get rid of the pink walls that were throughout
the house when we moved in 6 months ago. Ugh! Since I'm painting both the
walls and the trim, I didn't want to stick painter's tape on freshly painted
trim to paint the walls, so I got to thinking about those little rollers
that they have at the home improvement stores that have that "guard" to
protect the part you aren't supposed to be painting. Has anyone use them?
Do they work? Any advice before using them?

Thanks!
