...and then there were 3
At the beginning of January, life was normal. We were a one dog family.
Life was good. In the middle of January, we took on my husband's grandparent's mini-dachshund while they traveled for two months. Life was a bit more hectic - two doxies is a fun time, though. WELL, I got a phone call this morning. My older sister went into labor at midnight last night and had her baby at 5 this morning. Since I'm the sister that lives the closest, guess who gets her Golden Retriever for the next few days? Luckily Rusty LOVES Noble (the Golden). When I came home with him this morning. Rusty jumped up on me and starting licking my face as if to say "thank you so much for this wonderful party!!" His two best friends are here to play for a while. Life is good. -- Shelley (the new aunt) & Rusty (the host) & Pixie (the mini-doxie who has never seen so many dogs) & Noble (who has no idea what will be waiting for him when he gets home again) http://www.bump.us/rusty |

Mom and baby are doing great. Six years ago, an out of town friend got a new baby (adopted). I went to tell some quilter friends the happy news. They became all interested in the medical details of why she'd adopted, kept returning to the subject of whether she'd taken this medicine or that one (details I didn't know), implied that she could have carried to term if she'd done this or that differently (though my friend had excellent insurance and medical care) and basically showed no interest in the baby herself. Thinking about it later, I realized I didn't have anything in common with those women. I may spend more of my day on quilting, but any self-respecting dog person would want to know about a baby, not miscarriages. See? We're dog people. Dog people love it that you're an aunt. That's happy news indeed. --Lia |
