Default New Herding Stuff...

New herding photos taken weekend before last.
http://www.geocities.com/shellybrosnan/16months.html

For a green dog with a green handler, we're doing alright.
I have been hoping to try for our PT (Pre-trial Test) title at
our National Specialty in a few months, and asked the
instructor if he thought we might be ready.

We went in, and I was amazed at the difference between *right
then & there* and the last time we'd be on sheep (nearly 2 mos. ago).
We still have quite a ways to go before we're ready for actual
trials, but I am feeling much more confident and it shows. And
Bodhi seems to sense it as well, and responds accordingly.
The instructor said, "Oh yeah, provided the stock is acceptable
Test sheep, you guys are ready!"

I finally bought myself a decent pair of muck boots, so we're headed
up this weekend. Coda gets to go & play, yay!

Big deal? For me, yes.

(I like herding dogs. Really. 10+ years sharing a house with a corgi,
you can't *help* liking herding dogs. BUT...)

"Muck boots"?!? God, does *that* ever sound appetizing. Or not.

Isn't it time for a food thread, complete with tongue and peeps and
lime jello and liver and Miracle Whip and miscellaneous Vileness?

Do you subscribe to the Mystery newsgroup, perchance? =)

(BTW, a good pair of muck boots or barn boots are invaluable - you definitely
don't want to clean off your REGULAR boots/shoes after a visit to the pasture
or barn!)

I thought the whole *point* of herding dogs is that *they* do all the
running around through the, uh, 'muck'. (Great, now I have this image
of a corgi wearing boots...)

And the whole point of herding *cats* is that...oh, sorry, wrong joke.
