Odd behavior from dog
Is there anyone with some insight as to why our bullmastiff/mix dog has to
bump into people with his hip. He will walk around you and you'll get the unsuspecting hip check. He does it to everyone he meets. He usually does it once facing each way and then is satisfied and go about his business. It's definitely a noticeable deliberate bump. I have moved from him when he thought he was going to connect, he looks back as if to recalculate and then does it again and won't quit until he connects. It doesn't seem aggressive, he's very even tempered, not a barker, biter and is wagging when he does it. Nobody seems to know what it means or why he does it. FWIW He used to sit on anything's head (other animals or people) when he was a pup. We didn't correct him to stop he just seemed and now he does this. And he's neutered. Just curious Michelle Italy |

Wonder of wonders, I actually agree with you-know-who on this one.
The way you describe this whole hip-bump sequence, it's a game. Your dog has a silly sense of humor! A friend's bull mastiff does this now and then... and I swear that his eyes are twinkling with glee! If he was really trying to dominate a person, he'd be causing them to move in the direction of his choice.... Jo Wolf Martinez, Georgia |
