Default PDX area shelter closing... homes needed for several dogs

LOCAL NO-KILL DOG SHELTER MUST UNEXPECTEDLY CLOSE:
ADOPTION DRIVE TO HELP SAVE 71 DOGS
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4 - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2004

Family Dogs NW, a unique no-kill shelter that rescues, rehabilitates and
re-homes dogs, must unexpectedly close their doors. Their last day of
business is Sunday, February 15th. Family Dogs NW is hosting a Valentine's
Day Adoption Drive, Saturday, February 14th, loam-6pm, to save as many dogs
as possible before they must close. Dogs that are not adopted and cannot be
placed into a foster home will face euthanasia.

Help Family Dogs NW achieve their goal of finding Valentine's Day homes for
71 homeless dogs and puppies. Because the shelter is forced to close (due to
lack of funding and a 70% decrease in adoption rates this winter), the need
for homes is critical. This Valentine's Day event is a terrific opportunity
to bring a new source of companionship and happiness into your life while
saving a life.

There are many wonderful dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes waiting for the
chance to be your sweetheart. Dog and puppy adoption fees will be discounted
at $100.00 from now through the 15th. There will be some "special needs"
dogs available that will need patience, understanding, and training while
they settle into family life. Their special adoption fee is $75.00.

The shelter is also desperately seeking financial donations from the public,
to help cover veterinary expenses and basic care for many dogs that will
need to be placed into extended-stay foster homes, to be adopted out later
by their foster parents. This foster network will help to save the lives of
the dogs that are not adopted by the 15th by opening their homes to them
until they can be placed into their "forever" homes.

Please help if you can, and forward this email on to all your dog loving
friends.
