Default OT--how do you get rid of old drugs?

I'm trying to clean out our medicine cabinet. But I'm not sure how to get
rid of out of date meds and vitamins. I used to flush them, but have been
told that that's not good for the environment. Putting them in the landfill
seems to be not good either.

What do you do with such things?

Marie

some communities have household hazardous waste disposal
programs. i imagine either your local waste removal
department or your pharmacist could tell you if there's such a
program in your area, and if it includes medications. some
do, some don't. also, your pharmacy may have a drug disposal
program of its own.

Pharmacies accept them back.
