doggie depression?
hi, my wife and i have a 10 month old bulldog that we love dearly. i
recently had to move to another city for my work and my wife and dog stayed behind. they will be joining me in july. my wife tells me that since i´ve gone, the dog has little desire to eat (rare for her, she ALWAYS wants to eat) and doesnt want to sleep in her bed. thankfully thats the extent so far, no physical damage to anything in the house or to herself. is there any way for us to alleviate what appears to be a depression caused by my absence? or am i way off base in my diagnosis? any advice is greatly appreciated as i want my baby to be fat and happy. |

Hi, You may be correct in your thinking . Also if you are the one who normally plays with him...then he isn't playing..ie laying about. Then that alone will make him look depressed...when in fact he isn't. Then he isn't using as much energy so wants less food. My dogs when some people come in are more playful with some than others. Depends on the people....some people excite them...just by their body language. So in short lots of excitement will make him play. Play equals using energy = eats food. Maybe just maybe. Pat. |
