Update--Dog poisonings in T.O.
So the park where pesticide laden hotdogs were found has been closed since
the incident--two weeks this weekend--not just to dogs but to everyone. Public Health and the Parks Department were hoping to have it open today, if all the soil tests and stuff came back ok. Then, on Wednesday, another hotdog piece was found where some snow had melted :-( The police are pretty sure that it's from the original poisoning and not a new piece, but are disturbed that it turned up even after an extensive grid search. It now appears that the park may not open again until after the spring thaw :-( Meanwhile, more is being told to us about the poison itself. It was banned in Canada about 8 years ago. Apparently, if it gets into the soil or water it they can be contaminated for up to 2 years. Still no word from police on whether they can catch the creep who did this. http://www.pulse24.com/Front_Page/page.asp "Harmful Hot Dog" Marie |
