Default dog doors?

I'm building a new energy efficient, solar passive house.
Is there anything like an energy efficient doggie door?
If not, what's the closest thing?

thanks,
EmilyS

I don't know about one that is specifically energy efficient but the
general principals will be the same. One goal is to control the rate at
which air flows between the inside and outside. You can improve this
somewhat by additional design. My parents, for example, created what is
essentially a portal. It is a wooden box that goes in front of the dog
door with a second dog door leading to the outside. That second opening
is facing away from the prevailing wind. The design of the flap itself
will also matter. Ideally you are looking for something that fits closely
enough when closed that it doesn't leak (much) air. And you want to be
careful not to oversize the door.
