Default Chief report

I was over to visit Chief this morning. He's recovering nicely. His
worst wound is in a place that he can't get to very well. He's playing
contortionist with trying. His person is taking that as a good sign.
If he's trying to scratch or lick, it must have the itchiness that means
healing. Most important, he doesn't seem to be suffering any fears
about what happened. He's fine with other dogs, shows no discomfort
walking past the place where it happened.

Chief is an awfully nice dog with gentle good manners. He's cautious in
nature, but warms up quickly. He barked when I arrived, then gave me
kisses before I left.

Walking in the neighborhood is a guilty pleasure recently. Not only are
our temperatures warmer (nothing to feel guilty about there), the whole
neighborhood is abuzz about the attack. Everyone who sees us out with
Cubbe stops to chat. Rumor and accusations are flying. (Lots to feel
guilty about there; I shouldn't listen, but I can't help myself. I'm
making a real effort not to report what I hear.) I've always liked my
neighborhood. Now I feel more a part of the community than I ever have.
Sad to say, the whole awful situation with the dogs has been a
catalyst for me to socialize more with the neighbors. Great fun.
