Default puppy finghts leash

Can anyone give me some ideas about a puppy that does not want to walk on a
leash. We have been letting her drag it around the house and she is doing
ok with that but as soon as there is any tension on it she sits down.

Thanks

Derek

Hi DM:
I have spent most of my training time on this activity because it is a more
difficult task than sit stay ect. It requires a dynamic link between dog and
owner. Like Jack said, acclimate him to the leash by just connecting him and
indoors then with very short intervals like even a few steps and you are
talking like an idiot to your pup in the most exagerated upbeat voice you
can muster with his favorite reward right in his face with your free hand
and as soon as he is in the position reward the heck out of him. The clicker
in this scenario is harder to handle and takes practice but there is room
for it in your leash hand. All of this should be indoors at first as a
confined space with no distractions is a good place to start.
I have been doing this for 2 months and I have a very attentive walker and
am just now starting to fade the rewards. I draw his attention when I see a
distraction coming by going into my goofy goodboy speaking which he knows
preceeds a reward. Hope this helps and there are several good training book
which thoroughly cover heeling.
