Default Invisible fences

Does anyone have a preference as to which brand is better for
invisible fences (ie Petsafe vs Innotek?) I have a German Shepherd
male enclosed in a gated fence and he likes to dig out. Thanks for
your advice!

Invisible Fence, costs a little more but is professionally installed and the
dog is professionally trained.

If you already have a fence, then a plain old electric wire similar to those
used for livestock will work the best and be the cheapest and easiest to
install--by yourself even. You can probably get everything you need for
less than $100 at the co-op, and that included the controller. Just run a
strand around the bottom of the fence you already have. It's practically
invisible, and boy does it work!

i think the brand we had installed is Innotek, but the installation and
training are more important than the brand. i'd check for an "Invisible
Fence" installer in your area. it costs a bit more, but they send out a
consultant to help you decide what you need, an installer to set it up for
you, and trainers to help your dog (and you) to understand how it works.
the trainers we've worked with on ours have been great. they actually know
a lot about dogs and have been able to help us with any training difficulty
that has come up.
be warned, it doesn't just "work" overnight. it'l take a couple weeks
before the dog will be allowed outside off leash. but if you follow the
instructions, it will work very well.
