REALLY itchy dog...
My dog has been uncomfortable on and off for 4 months now.. she in semi
constantly chewing around her tail, hips, and scratching her belly and armpit and neck areas. She has been getting regular baths, frequent swims in the ocean, I constantly am washing her bedding and vaccuuming the house. I had her at the vet for this before and they just gave me some anti biotics for it and it helped for the time being but I would prefer to help her without the use of drugs.. We haven't seen any signs of fleas, although we have occasionally felt little bites where she has been chewing but that's not always the case. Anyway, I'm just looking for some opinions so that she can be more comfortable.. Thank you. |

Allergies to food, fleas or inhalent stuff (environmental) or a combination.
Ask your vet about trying a hypo allergenic food like Hills Z/D. But in order to rule out food allergies you have to feed the dog the food exclusively for 4-8 weeks - no treats or table food. If the symptoms are caused by food allergies you should see relief within that time period. -Sharon |

Too many baths with shampoo can strip all the oils from the coat. You might be better off just rinsing with plain water a couple of times a day and see if that helps. Have you sprayed the house with anything, gotten new carpeting, etc.? buglady take out the dog before replying |
