Hi I do not know if this is the right place to ask or if anyone can point me in
the right direction but I have a partner who has disabilities and we are
looking for somewhere where we can obtain a GSD which we have had and owned in
the past that is trained to be able to protect her when I am not around and
also to be capable of helping her with her disabilities for example she can not
bend to pick things up ect we live in the UK and are aware of a couple of
places that provide suitable dogs trained to do this kind of thing but we have
found we are more or less left with two choices one is to get one via the
charity of dogs for disabled people but the waiting list for this is enormous
the second option is to go via a private trainer and breeder who trains dogs
for these purposes but this means paying for it ourselves which is virtually an
impossibility as the prices for such dogs and trainning amounts to £1,800 for a
basic obedience trained dog to £10,000 + for a dog specificly trained to my
partners every possible need and as she is suffering from a disability which is
only going to get worse over time eventually leaving her in a wheelchair
permenantly as we both suffer with health problems we are on benefits so are
budget is fairly tight but would enable us to accomodate a dog quite easily but
not enough to pay for one at them kind of prices so anyones help suggestions or
comments would be gratefully accepted
