Puppy Separation Anxiety Crash Course
Just got our 9 week old F Rhodesian Ridgeback (yes, not a lab, but we've got
one of them too ). Adorable little thing. We've got a crate for her that is attached to the X-pen so that while we are gone during the day (max about 4 hours at a time) she has a place to sleep AND a place to move around and "use" if she needs to. We had to run a quick errand yesterday and she did NOT like the X-pen at all. We pulled into the driveway and heard the whines already. I know the basics of getting her over it. Have read them several times. As many of us know, the "basics" aren't always the best. Also, since I only took two days off from work, we need to get her more comfortable quickly--by Wednesday. I realize she won't be perfect by then, but that's a short term goal. Much of it is probably the new home, etc. so I imagine it'll get better by itself to an extent. So any suggestions? Feel free to reiterate the "basics" and add your own take. |
