Training Collar for a BIG Dog
I have a high energy Black Lab - age almost 4 years For the last 2 and
half years I have been using a Innotek SD 100 electronic collar. This collar has been nothing but trouble - had to replace the entire units after 11 months. The transmitter on the second unit lasted 7 months before the #4 button ripped the membrane. Even tho, the unit was no longer under warranty Innotek snet me another remote for shipping cost. This one lasted about the same and the #4 button ripped the membrane. I have scotch tape on the #4 button now and it doesnt work all the time. I have given up on Innotek, dont want anything to do with them any more. The #4 button is the one I used all the time, my lab doesnt even notice the 1-3 buttons. We use the collar for off leash in my 1 acre back yard. I need the collar to prevent him from chasing other dogs, deer, horses and other distractions that come up.. When working, the collar was effective at the #4 button setting. Also the collar has made him a much better dog. I have decided to get a Dogtra collar as these dont use a membrane button remote and may last longer. I am looking at the 1100 and 1200 models. Do these models have good zapping ability? I need something that is as strong or stronger as the #4 button on the SD 100. As I said my dog doesnt even notice buttons 1-3 on the Innotek. Please dont preach about me wanting to hurt my dog. I would rather zap my lab than pick him up from under a car dead. Plus my dog actually "likes" the electronic collar. he always gets excited when I put it on him as he knows it is time to chase the green ball. Thanks Lazy Senior |
