Puppy training
I need some help. I have a 6 month old Rat Terrier. He is very bright,
full of energy and very eager to interact with me. I am attempting to train him, he can sit and lay down. Other tricks are very hard to train because he gets so excited that he does not pay attention. The sitting and lay down part was fairly easy but I want to move on to other things. For instance he will not obey me when I need him to come. He darts out the door into the yard and will not come back when I call. If he does not want to go to bed he will not come at bed time. He also like to jump up on me and I want to stop this. Can someone give me some training hints? He is so eager to learn that he will come to me and sit and bark for more attention or he will sit and stare at me. I guess I really need to know how to control his excitement and get him to calm down enough to pay attention. I think he could learn a great many tricks, he is certainly eager!
