Default I'm not conscious

Haven't bragged on marvelous Mac in a while -- how you must miss it.

When I open a door or the hatch of the dogs' s/w, he throws me one
quick look to determine whether he is to jump out or not. In eight
years, he's never been wrong. I'm not aware that I'm doing _anything.
Do your dogs read you when you'd swear you're sending no signals?

Station wagon -- our preferred method of doggy transport.
Am I the last to stumble on Jon Katz? He's thought provoking.
http://slate.msn.com/id/2096577/
Previous articles are linked at the bottom, and in one he writes,
"dogs can read our moods, but not our minds. If they could, we'd love
them less."
Pondering the article on 'rescuers', and the possible malign effect
they have on their dogs. We've all seen that, I think.
But, we often find a home for terminally ill dogs with marvelous people
who give them a few good weeks at the end of their lives. Don't care
what these folks motives are -- they're wonderful.

The article you mention was discussed a while ago. By "thought
provoking", are you agreeing with his point of view? FWIW, I've
always held the opinion that the term "owner" connotes more
responsibility than "guardian". Katz put it very well, I think.
