Savannah GA Agility
I'm looking for a mixed-breed allowed agility group in the Savannah area. I
would be interested in fun runs, etc. more than serious competition as neither Charity nor I is particularly seriously competitive. Anyone know of anything? We are actually looking for someone who knows what they're doing and can help me train Charity, as I'm a newby at this sport as well! Thanks! -- Those days when I was young Ah, those remembered well I'd sit upon my Grandma's knee The stories she would tell... -"Grandma's Lap" -By Diane Graebner Read my poetry online at http://www.generations-poetry.com |

Agility was slow in coming to this part of the world... so there are
fewer clubs offering USDAA or NADAC competition for mixed breed dogs... but there are some, and your local AKC club is the place to make connections! Talk to members who train and compete about who has equipment and permits others to use it for fun. Start accumulating your own equipment and building it, if you have space.... For liability reasons, you will almost certainly have to have some training classes behind you before you will be permitted access to Anybody's equipment. You may have to join the club... and may have to assist with their events ("work credit") to have open access.... You can find contacts for local AKC clubs at that web site: http://www.akc.org Jo Wolf Martinez, Georgia |

Thank you so much! We have a local trainer, but she doesn't do agility.
She may know some folks, though. I'll go through the AKC site too and see what I can find out. Isn't EVERYTHING slow in coming to this part of the world? -- Those days when I was young Ah, those remembered well I'd sit upon my Grandma's knee The stories she would tell... -"Grandma's Lap" -By Diane Graebner Read my poetry online at http://www.generations-poetry.com "Jo Wolf" wrote in message ... I don't know if Aiken is close to Savannah but you can check this out: http://www.geocities.com/adtcpage/ Also I ran across a premium for an AKC agility trial being held by Savannah dog training club. http://www.dogeventsonline.com/Event...=309&type_id=1 If you end up competing with a mixed breed there are lots of NADAC and USDAA trials in the greater Atlanta area. Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll look into them. I wrote to the
secretary for Savannah Training Club and she suggested the name of someone whom she believes works with agility, so I have to call her too. I'll let you know what I find out! -- Those days when I was young Ah, those remembered well I'd sit upon my Grandma's knee The stories she would tell... -"Grandma's Lap" -By Diane Graebner Read my poetry online at http://www.generations-poetry.com "Jo Wolf" wrote in message ... Mary, she's over 3 1/2 hours from Aiken... Fine for AKC trials, but not for training or probably for matches. (I'm the Training Director for the Aiken DTC.... live just across the state line in GA). Actually, given that Savannah is on I-95, North Florida is an option..... And there is one good, but Very intense and serious, agility trainer about 50-60 miles from Savannah, in Statesboro, GA.
